Steve was born in 60's Manchester and grew up in Oldham. He is an artist, writer, and occasional performer. He has always been highly creative, working in different genres with different materials. Steve studied graphic design at Oldham Art College and started making Super 8 films, and experimental videos. In the 1980s, he became interested in theatre, acting in various amateur theatre shows around Manchester, including an acclaimed production of Joe Orton's rarely performed 'What the Butler Saw.' In the 1990's, he did a theatre studies degree at the University of Huddersfield. After graduation, Steve began working as a theatre critic for the Big Issue, and City Life magazine, reviewing shows and interviewing actors (spending time with the late Pete Postlethwaite being a career highlight). He is the author of several plays including 'Filthy Lies, Clean Breasts' (Edinburgh Fringe, 1998), 'American Beer' (BBC Radio 4), 'Detox Mansion' (24:7 Festival), 'Temp/Casual' (Contact Theatre), and 'The Distance Between Stars' (Studio Salford). In 2015, he won a New Talent prize at the Northern Writers Awards. More recently, Steve has returned to creating art, creating a series of surreal, multimedia collages, most made the old-fashioned way, using scissors, glue, and cut-out images. Artistic heroes include Yves Klein, Dario Argento, David Lynch, Andy Warhol, Jack Kirby, Jim Steranko, Saul Bass, and Peter Saville. He still lives in Manchester.
